Idea Fabrik Partners with German Games Academy

LONDON – 8 July, 2011 - Idea Fabrik Plc. (GB00B61CVK31, TI4.F) announced today a new partnership with the German Games Academy. Idea Fabrik is providing the academy with full access to its HeroEngine game development platform and dedicated support for students through its HeroCloud offering.

Games academy manager, Heico Purwin believes the HeroEngine fits perfectly in their teaching portfolio, ‘as it is designed excellently to meet the challenges of online games, and by this makes it very easy to learn to work with.’ He also commented, ‘while using HeroEngine our students get very valuable insights into the possibilities of social-, browser-, and classic MMO-games; and they are also allowed to use all engine-side material from their projects as basis for commercial projects. Therefore their feedback is outstanding: our students at the Games Academy RheinMain have had very positive experiences in terms of support and flexibility of the HeroCloud in the online game environment. We are looking forward to having the first results of game projects in the course of the next quarter.’

Idea Fabrik co-founder and chairman of the board Alex Shalash, added, ‘We are very excited to have been selected by the German Games Academy to actively participate in the education of future talent in game development. Our company strongly believes that many successful games will be created by freshly minted developers with new innovative ideas. We realize the significant value in seeding the developer community with young HeroEngine ambassadors.’

Knut Brockmann, the lead lecturer of Game Design noted that the Academy’s students ‘get to meet all challenges of designing online games by using a special, well-fitted work flow created through the HeroEngine tools’, while the engine ‘allows the designers to work on their projects in an environment very near to the later game experience, which quickly leads to outstanding results.’ In describing the HeroEngine tools, Brockmann added, ‘the combination of server and client technology makes the HeroEngine unique, powerful, and accessible at the same time – and these are the most important characteristics for the online games industry nowadays.’

Through HeroCloud, the HeroEngine is free to use for developers, until their games are published and generate revenues. Game developers receive 70% of revenues from their games, in exchange for building and hosting their game with HeroCloud. HeroCloud also supports developers post-launch with global billing and marketing solutions. Game developers also receive full access to Idea Fabrik’s advanced features of 3D game engine, HeroEngine, currently licensed to big studios such as EA and BioWare amongst more than 100 studios.
